THE MOST VERSATILE SHORT HAIRCUT

Queen Letizia of Spain with a classic bob.

Over the years I have realized that a short “bob” is a hairstyle that really suits me. I imagine it will be a style that I will maintain in one form or another throughout the years. It is a classic cut that looks great at any age.

I have also found it to be one of the most versatile styles ever; such a great characteristic of the bob.   And with little effort you can easily transform your look into several different styles. Style it based on your mood or occasion: tousled and sassy or straight and sophisticated. Each are equally fabulous!

I have been looking for a few new ways to style my bob and while searching I found a few photos to share and prove just how versatile this cut can be.

Photos above and below: Queen Letizia of Spain is one of the hardest working royals and her personal style is impeccable. Last year she cut her beautiful long locks, which obviously caught the attention of the media who have captured her with a bob styled both straight and wavy. Apparently, even the Queen (and/or her stylist) realizes the versatility of such a classic cut.

Two extremes: Adding bangs can take the look to a whole other level. Wear it wavy for a playful look (above) or sleek and ultra modern (below).

Above & below: When I was in my early 20’s I vowed that I would never dye my hair. I would say that I would grow old gracefully with a beautiful head of grey hair that is perfectly coiffed. Now that I am…well, let’s just say no longer in my 20’s…its something I am obviously rethinking but if I could have a wonderful head of grey hair like these woman I would be thrilled. Both look absolutely radiant and stylish. The photo below is of 80+ year old model Carmen Dell’Orefice, photographed by Giuliano Bekor.

Love the bob, have one myself and it’s definitely the right style for me personally, no matter the length. I have been blessed with my father’s gene pool and have little or no gray hair as of yet…I’m a grandmother so this is surprising. I’m also a redhead, so if the gray comes I will definitely be asking my hairdresser for help! 🙂

I actually cut my hair into a bob a year or so ago. My husband really wanted me to go short (not a good look for me), so I compromised with a bob. It has to be long enough so I can pull it back into a ponytail. It gets humid here and my hair can get wild, so a ponytail is a must. My hair is going white in one big patch right at my forehead. I am NOT ready to be white!!!! I still have an 8 year old! So, instead, I’m going blonde!

      Hi Kristen!

I have always loved the look of a ponytail. It’s very classic and can be chic, charming or playful. Unfortunately it doesn’t suit the shape of my face. I have an image I have been saving for a future post with a lovely pony tail. It makes me wish I could wear one well!

I’m not ready for grey or white either…hope you enjoy your new blonde look!

      Thanks for stopping by!
      All the best….
