A PARISIAN ESCAPE: THE NEWLY RENOVATED RITZ HOTEL

When I dream of afterlife in heaven….the action always takes place in the Paris Ritz.   —Ernest Hemingway

I took a trip to London and Paris when I turned 21. I haven’t returned since. Several years before my (hmm, hmm) 40th birthday I told Mr. B that we would return to Paris as a 40th birthday present to myself. It was going to be the most extravagant of trips to commemorate a milestone birthday. Unfortunately life took us both in an entirely different direction due to unforeseen circumstances (aka Mr. B’s major health scare) and we haven’t made it back…yet. My longing for Paris has never subsided and a romantic trip with my husband is something on the to-do list.  I believe that timing is everything and maybe the travel gods were hoping our visit would wait until the the reopening of the Ritz Hotel. After being closed for four years, the historic hotel finally opened for business again after undergoing a major renovation. Interestingly enough, it opened its doors this past Monday, which is 118 years after its original opening date of June 1, 1898. The hotel is back in business and she’s a beauty. The new interiors were designed by New York designer and architect Thierry W. Despont and they do not disappoint. It’s definitely French elegance at its finest! Take a look around and see for yourself.
