Today is a time of transition as Donald J. Trump is sworn into office as the 45th President of the United States. Undoubtedly, the day isn’t without controversy. Many are cheering; many are fearing. I am not intending this to be a political post. Quite honestly, I don’t care who you voted for. But one thing I am sure we can all agree upon is that fact that delivering an Inauguration Day speech must be no easy task. And in retrospect, many of these lengthy speeches have included lines that ultimately helped define an era in our Country’s history. Today, I share a few of those famous quotes with you…accompanied by some pretty pictures, of course!
“This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance” — Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1933.
“The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.” –John F. Kennedy, 1961.
“We have endured a long night of the American spirit. But as our eyes catch the dimness of the first rays of dawn, let us not curse the remaining dark. Let us gather the light. –Richard Nixon, 1969.
