A MISSISSIPPI HOME FULL OF GRACE AND ELEGANCE

When you have a home with architecturally good bones sometimes all that’s needed to freshen things is up a bit of new paint and to completely redecorate. This was the case with a Mississippi couple whose home is featured in the March issue of Traditional Home Magazine. John and Diane McGowen constructed their Georgian style home in 1990. When originally built, the couple spent a lot of time focusing on the architectural details of the home but when all was said and done they “went the easy route and picked rooms off the showroom floor”. Now some 30 years later they decided to spruce things up a bit and called on interior designer Lisa Palmer. Long gone are the traces of dark colors and floral chintz. They were replaced with a lighter color pallet¬†which helps to showcase their existing antiques and artwork much better. What started as an initial inquiry about helping to select new paint colors (snowballed?)¬†evolved into a complete overhaul of the interiors that resulted in a home full of Southern grace and elegance.
