I love saturated color and commend those brave souls that can work their magic and incorporate such a bold hue like green into their decor.  I play it safe and have the tenancy to gravitate toward more neutral colors when it comes to my own home. It think it’s because I like the flexibility of being able to swap out things when I get tired of them…which is often. But for now, let’s celebrate the color green. I actually love the color green and will continue to admire it from afar…

He had that curious love of green, which in individuals is always the sign of a subtle artistic temperament, and in nations is said to denote a laxity, if not a decadence of morals.”  — Oscar Wilde

Sometimes you just need to go for it and a library is a great room where you can have fun and be experimental with design. I love the hint of leopard pattern making this room a successful mix of classic and modern design.

If you need to ease your way into incorporating such a bold color then try using it as an accent.

green interior design reviving charm

A glossy tile laid in a herringbone pattern will always catch my attention.

This traditional interior feels fresh and modern with a hint of red thrown into the mix.

Mother nature is always the best inspiration. I want to assume it is what dictated the choice of this stairway treatment.

green doors in paris reviving charm

Green doors with beautiful iron detailing creates a wonderful first impression. It makes me wonder if the interiors are equally as charming.

This is a successful design where green is used as a pop of color to make a bold and classy statement. It’s definitely a place I would love to pull up a chair at.

What do you think about the color green. Love it or leave it?

  1. Karen B. says:

While I still enjoy green in a room, especially the samples you’ve shared, I had hunter green carpet for years in our current home. I loved it for years, and then couldn’t wait to get rid of it. It’s such a rich color, both indoors and out and I think the library you’ve shown us would be the ideal place to enjoy it.
    Such pretty images.

  2. After Orange County says:

Green is my favorite color, but like you, I use it sparingly in decor, only going so far as to use a muted sage green in my own home. But like you say, kudos to those brave souls that go for the gusto green like in many of your wonderful photos.

  3. Vandana Mathur says:

Lovely use of green in the pictures you shared. I love lighter hues of green a lot, or small green prints on white, like in some of these pictures. It has a soothing effect on eyes.
