Pause today to celebrate Veterans Day here in the United States. Let your heart be grateful for all who have served in our armed forces. Honor the tremendous sacrifices made by them and their families to preserve our freedom.
A few years back I had the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. It was springtime and it was the most ideal time of the year to wander through the beautifully serene park-like setting that is filled with monuments and memorials, most notably the Changing of the Guards at the Tomb of the UnKnown Soldier, which is the featured image of this post. I have included a montage of photos I took during my second trip to Arlington National Cemetery. I think their website sums it up the best:
“The grounds of Arlington National Cemetery honor those who have served our nation by providing a sense of beauty and peace for our guests. The rolling green hills are dotted with trees that are hundreds of years in age and complement the gardens found throughout the 624 acres of the cemetery. This impressive landscape serves as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of every individual laid to rest within the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.”
