A Chic Milan Apartment

If you’ve been with me a while then you already know that I have a super sweet spot in my heart for Italy. I have fallen in love with Milan and I even discussed my position on the great debate about the metropolitan city in this prior post. When I came across this regal apartment it took me about two seconds to start a post. I knew I couldn’t keep this stunning Italian interior all to myself and I had to share it with you. Afterall, my motto in life (well, at least one of them) is “sharing is caring”. This incredible chic Italian apartment was designed for a couple and their two children by Studio Peregalli, a design firm based in Milan within short walking distance of The Duomo. The firm has achieved much recognition for their stunning interiors but don’t bother searching for a portfolio of their work on their website because you won’t find one. Thier website only features one small image and contact information reminding me of a modern day calling card. Apparently, you’re already familiar with their work if you need to contact them. Few firms can be so lucky. Studio Peregalli is headed by Roberto Peregalli and Laura Sartori Rimini and were hired to redesign this Milan apartment which hadn’t been touched since it was originally designed in the 1950’s by famed Italian designer Renzo Mongiardino, whom both Peregalli and Rimini once worked under until his death almost 20 years ago. They tackled the project as more of a restoration project as if to pay homage to the original design done by Mongiardino. They salvaged much of the original work including the gorgeous murals and trompe l’oeil paintings that grace the walls to create a beautiful backdrop for the furniture that lies within the rooms. It’s pure Italian chic.

The effect, especially when set against the backdrop of elaborately decorated walls, is one of controlled exuberance and welcoming luxury.  — Elle Decor Magazine

L.A. HOME OF GEORGIA TAPERT HOWE

I absolutely love the color green and have been thinking about using it as an accent color in our family room. So naturally, the current issue of Elle Decor piqued my interest with this dramatic green and black dining room of Georgia Tapert Howe splashed across its cover. A few years ago, Howe and her husband moved from New York to this beautiful home in the exclusive Los Angeles neighborhood of Hancock Park. Howe, an interior designer and former home accessories store owner, updated a circa 1921 traditional style home in a modern mix of California cool for her and her family (which also includes two young children). I’m loving every bit of it…do you love it as much as I do?

Shortly after seeing this one image that captivated me, I received my issue of Milieu Magazine where her entire home was featured. Talk about coincidence! Her home is a wonderful mix of classic design with chic, modern flair set in neutral tones. I love homes that can successfully combine these elements while still providing a sense of warmth that makes you feel comfortable within the space. For today, enjoy a tour of Betsey Brown’s home….I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. art-at-the-home-of-betsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_combetsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_com-4bbetsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_com-4abetsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_com-3betsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_combetsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_com-2betsy-brown-interior-design-revivingcharm_com-1
