THE MOST STYLISH DENTAL OFFICE YOU’LL EVER SEE

I am off to see the dentist today for a routine exam and cleaning. I take great pride in taking care of my teeth (you should, too!) but going to the dentist is never on the top of my “to-do” list and I could think of a million and one other things I’d much rather be doing. My dentist is an avid surfer (not surprisingly since I’m by the beach in California) and his office is decorated in a casual, beachy theme with even the latest issues of Surfer Magazine in the waiting room lounge. I give my dentist credit for maintaining an attractive, pristine office but still…it’s a dental office. I thought it was attractive as a dental office could get until I came across the office of Dr. Jennifer Burge Heller (love her website name, www.pleasefloss.com) designed by the Chicago based firm Summer Thornton Design.

I want our clients to feel like they are coming to my home so that they’re calm and relaxed. –Dr. Jennifer Burge Heller

I’ve never understood why people in the healthcare industry haven’t caught onto the fact that if they “deinstitutionalize” the look of their environment then maybe people would consider them less scary places to visit. I’m sure you can’t eliminate the fright factor for some altogether, but you can definitely promote a more peaceful environment. Luckily, Dr. Heller is one that “gets it” and I commend her for really going the extra mile (and incurring the extra expense) for trying to put her clients at ease. Hopefully, more medical professionals will follow suit. I can only hope…
