Rabbitville

I was originally planning a traditional Easter post filled with lots of pretty and pastel colors but then I remembered taking pictures of a public art installation during the Christmas holiday when Mr. B and I stayed at the Pendry Hotel in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego. The hotel was hosting “Rabbitville”, a rotating public art exhibit comprised of 15 fiberglass rabbits. The exhibit began in May 2017 to commemorate the settling of the neighborhood 150 years ago. If you wish to see Rabbitville in person, the exhibit is currently on display at San Diego’s historic U.S. Grant Hotel.

Rabbit, Rabbit : Entertaining for Easter

I always wondered why Sarah Jessica Parker signs off some of her Instagram posts with “Rabbit, Rabbit”. It turns out that it is a greeting to be used on the first day of the month and is meant to wish someone good luck for that month ahead. An interesting article about this tradition/superstition can be found here. “Rabbit, Rabbit” will be particularly appropriate to use this Easter since it happens to fall on April 1 this year. If you are planning to host an Easter celebration why not greet your guests with “Rabbit, Rabbit” and accessorize your dining table with a few moss bunnies. I recently saw the following picture reposted on the Instagram account of one of my regular reads, Blue and White Home and it made me want to order a bunch of bunnies for the table!  (Thanks for the inspiration, Elizabeth!) If you want to add a few bunny rabbits to your own Easter table then keep reading because I have a few sources for you.

I love the idea of giving everyone their own bunny by placing these napkin rings at each table setting. They are currently on clearance for a steal of a price at Pier 1 Imports for $2.68 each. Because I can’t leave well enough alone, I’d be tempted to tie a loose bow of double-faced satin ribbon to help camouflage the spring. moss rabbit napking rings_reviving charm

Here’s a look at a table styled with the bunny napkin rings. moss rabbit napkin rings_reviving charm 1

If you are looking for a larger scale bunny, this one might do the trick. It measures 6″ x 12″ x 10″. Buy it herefrom Nordstrom.moss bunny rabbit nordstroms_reviving charm

You can also find small and large bunnies available through Ballard Designs. They look cute together as a group.

This moss bunny planterfrom Save On Crafts is 100% cuteness and would look great filled with fresh seasonal flowers. Save On Crafts has been a great resource of mine for many, many years for all kinds of craft related items. Many of their other moss bunnies are already out of stock so buy early if you want one of your own. moss bunny rabbit planter_reviving charmThey also have a large bunny(12″x6″). This one really has some nice realistic detail to it. moss-covered bunny rabbit_reviving charmI just realized that I haven’t done a crafty type post in some time so I hope you enjoyed today’s Easter inspiration. All the best….

Happy Easter. Viva Spring. Viva Sweet Love

Sweet spring is your time
is my time
is our time for springtime
and viva sweet love.   –E.E. Cummings

Several weeks ago I had a fleeting thought about hosting an Easter brunch for the family. I procrastinated and never got around to actually planning anything. Shame on me. I guess I can try for next year! Instead, the Mr. and I will be having an Easter BBQ at home for just the two of us. I also plan to spend the morning out in the backyard garden to tidy up the containers just a bit. This morning I spent quite some time outdoors taking inventory of what needs to be done. Nature’s lovely creatures were out in full force. I really enjoyed seeing all the hummingbirds, lizards, butterflies and squirrels in action. I can’t say the same for a couple of spiders I encountered. EEK!!!!! Couple all the “activity” in the garden with the sight of beautiful new blooms and I was reminded me that spring is definitely here!

Viva Spring. Viva sweet love. Happy Easter!  xoxo- V.

Setting the Table: Easter Inspiration

This season I’ve noticed that I’ve become more and more partial to the color lavender than I ever have in the past. It is usually a color that I normally don’t gravitate toward. However, I really like this Easter table setting as seen in Victoria Magazine. The combination of lavender and green seems perfect for a springtime holiday celebration.easter entertainingeaster inspiration via reviving charm 4easter inspiration via reviving charm 2

If you don’t have the details of your Easter table ironed out yet, I’ve made it easy for you to recreate the look you see above. Just a few key pieces are all you need to recreate a similar table setting.

  • China: There are two china patterns used for this table setting and each is by Anna Weatherley. Antique Vegetable is a discontinued pattern but Springtime in Budapest, above, is a current pattern and available here. The pattern is pricey but each piece is delicately hand painted in Hungary. Consider them heirloom pieces.
  • Lavender German crystal glass goblets available here.
  • Linen hemstitch napkins available here.
  • Beaded flatware available here.

If you already have your tablescape all taken care of, I would love to hear about what you have planned…

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EASTER EGGS

Beth Ann Magnuson is an artist with the most interesting choice of medium to work with. She has chosen to work with eggs and painstakingly carves intricate patterns into them. The artistic quality turns a mundane object into a lovely little work of art.

Beth Ann Magnuson draws the intricate design on each egg before painstakingly carving out each design. If you are fascinated with process just as much as I am then I would I highly recommend you watch her video. I wish I had just an ounce of her patience.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA PROVIDES EASTER OUTFIT INSPIRATION

I remember waking up bright and early on Easter morning to unwrap the gigantic basket of treats that the Easter Bunny left me each year before getting ready and changing into “Sunday’s Finest”. The outfit would have been purchased earlier in the month on a shopping trip with my mother specifically to pick out a new dress for Easter Sunday (by the way, my favorite was a pink and black polka dot dress). And while I don’t have children to pass along this tradition, you may have children of your own or you might be considered the favorite aunt, uncle or grandparent who enjoys spoiling their nieces, nephews and grandchildren with shopping trips. Easter is exactly one week away and if the children in your life are still in need of their own “Sunday’s Finest” to wear on Easter Sunday, how about considering something from Oscar de la Renta. The children’s wear by Oscar de la Renta incorporates charming details and classic styling providing for the perfect Easter Sunday ensemble, or any other spring and summer festivity for that matter. Hoppy Shopping!
