When I was younger I remember people telling me how time flies as you get older. They were right. This morning someone wished me “Happy November”. In that instant I shuttered at the thought that the year has flown by. Where has the time gone? Boy…I hope that doesn’t make me sound old!

It is finally starting to feel like Fall here in Southern California now that the temperatures are starting to cool off. And with Halloween now behind us, Thanksgiving will soon be here. I typically don’t decorate for Fall or Thanksgiving, which is a surprise given that it is my favorite time of the year, but I fell head over heels for this simple vignette found on the Southern Living website. I might just need to change my ways and go shopping for some Fall decorations. Do you decorate for Fall? Do you go all out or just add a simple decoration or two?

During this time last year, Mr. B and I we were on vacation along the East coast. Our rented SUV took us through upstate New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. I was going through my photos recently and came across this picture I took while on that trip visiting Cape Cod. We were in Chatham, Massachusetts to be exact. I stood in front of this church taking what seemed to be a dozen pictures. It is the quintessential New England fall photo and it is one of my favorites from that trip. It seems most appropriate for this weekend’s post so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Have a great last weekend of October!

I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.    ― Henry David Thoreau

Today marks the first official day of Fall and I couldn’t be happier. It is my favorite time of the year. Fall means pulling out the winter sweaters and scarves, drinking hot tea, and snuggling up to a warm winter fire next to Mr. B while watching TV. Every year I also attempt to buy a new coat even though I hope that it will be the year that I finally get to wear the MaxMara full length wool/cashmere coat I bought in San Francisco many years ago and still haven’t worn. I guess it’s wishful thinking that California will get a real winter. Fall is also when Mr. B and I typically go on our longest vacation of the year but our vacation plans have been postponed due to my recent surgery and other commitments. I am thinking that vacation in the spring will be something wonderful to look forward to. For now let’s enjoy the Fall and all the wonderful things the season has to offer. It’s a wonderful time of year…
