Happy New Year! Happy 2018! I don’t know about you, but I have the tendency to sometimes over think things. It’s a characteristic of mine that I’ve learned to accept as both a blessing and a curse. I had been going back and forth about “just the right” post to share with you today until I had an “ah-ha moment”. I realized that my inspiration for today’s post had been staring me in the face (literally) all along. I forgot about the small piece of black and white paper I had pinned to the massive bulletin board I made to cover one wall in my office (yes, I’m crafty like that). I was adding new images to my bulletin board a few days ago when I came across an image I had previously pinned up. The casual script font simply reads “It’s going to be a beautiful year”. In that moment I realized that this uncomplicated, straightforward message summed up all that I am wishing for you and me in 2018. I have a few special things planned for the year ahead and look forward to sharing them with you. I wish you the very best for the upcoming year and hope your 2018 is filled with lots of fun, laughter, and love. Let’s have a beautiful year together!
All the best,

One of my guilty pleasures when traveling to San Francisco is visiting Neiman Marcus in Union Square. I shop the store from top to bottom and last year during the Thanksgiving holiday I fell in love with a particular tabletop store display. The table decorations incorporate old book pages, quotes, and words of wisdom that can easily be recreated. I’ve seen similar book page table runners on Pinterest but I like the idea of incorporating quotes, phrases, definitions, and words of wisdom. Choose wording to fit your particular festivity and you’ve created something really unique.
Old book pages can also be cut and fashioned into a tag that to serve as a creative place card. Don’t forget to incorporate empty spice vials with a fun message contained inside. Your guests will love it.
I love how camera focused in on the word “muzzle”. Is it trying to tell me something!!!??
There were several mobiles hanging above the dining table displaying additional words of wisdom. If you are somewhat of a DIYer this could actually be fairly easy to make. It would be time-consuming, but easy.
Words to live by…”Integrity…Live in such a way, that if someone spoke badly of you no one would believe it.”
We’re been back in Milan which turns out to be the last leg of our Italian journey. It’s sad to think that our long overdue two week trip is winding down. We’re not even home yet and we’re already talking about our next visit. Today is actually our last day before catching a Lufthansa flight home to California. We’ve had no real plans for today other than to spend it wandering the city taking in the sights and sounds. We’ve stumbled upon some great new shops, restaurants, and sites. I’m doing some last minute shopping and making sure I even get to enjoy a farewell gelato. When I’m back home I plan to prepare a recap post of our trip. However, please be patient for it since I’ve taken close to 5,000 pictures (so far) that I’ll need to sort through first. For today, enjoy a couple of scenes I’ve captured around Milan that celebrate the Fall season. Ciao…
I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house. So I have spent almost all the daylight hours in the open air. –Nathaniel Hawthorne
Happy Friday! What do you have planned for this Memorial Day weekend? It’s the unofficial start of summer and normally I would try to take advantage of the extended weekend for a long weekend getaway. However, given the fact that I spent most of this week in Las Vegas for work, I am looking forward to being home with the occasional trip out for a nice lunch or quick shopping trip. Spending a bit of time outdoors would also be nice given that the high is supposed to be around 70 degrees here at our seaside ranch home. No, the photos above our not our home, but just some beautiful inspiration to get us all in the mood for summer. I also plan to work on some upcoming posts to get back on track and keep you company. After all, I’ve missed you!
I love, love, love my job but I’ve had a challenging last couple of days due to major deadlines and coordinating efforts. I keep telling myself to “keep smiling” and stay positive. It’s interesting how a smile on your face can change your whole attitude. Which reminds me….I want to book a teeth whitening appointment with my dentist so I can continue to be proud of showing off my beautiful pearly whites! Thanks Mom for braces as a teenager!
By the way, this isn’t a picture of me but I do love how contagious this girl’s smile is. No matter what’s going on in your life right now, remember to keep a happy face. After all, there is always something to smile about! Happy Weekend 🙂
Buon San Valentino! Can you tell I have been working on my Italian?!!
Happy Valentines Day…What does the day hold for you? Valentine’s Day has never been a big deal for me. In fact, Mr. B and I usually never go out on Valentines Day. However, for a split moment, I thought about making a dinner reservation at a local restaurant. When I realized that it was going to cost us at least $200 for a meal (not including alcohol) at a local restaurant I said, “forget it”. I’m far from frugal and will pay for great food but that same meal for two would normalIy cost about half that amount and on any other day we won’t have to deal with the crowds. We typically celebrate with a nice romantic dinner for two at home. This year is no exception. I won’t be cooking…that’s Mr. B’s job. But this year he’s getting the night off since we arranged to pick up some fabulous take out. We’re keeping it simple and I really couldn’t be happier.
I hope your day is filled with lots of happiness, sexy smiles, love and, of course, kisses. This can be a tough day for those without a significant other so how about thinking of a way to make it extra special for them today. After all, showing a bit of kindness never goes out of style.
By the way, isn’t this the most charming picture? I sure hope they took the advice I gave in this post! XOXO.
Happy Friday! What do you have planned for this weekend before Valentines Day? I have been enjoying the rain these last few weeks but I will admit that I am really hoping Mother Nature provides a break tomorrow so Mr. B and I can go to the nursery to pick out a few new camellia varieties to plant in our front yard. I am also hoping to pick up my watercolors and do a little painting and finish making some reservations for an upcoming trip. R&R is always on my mind so Sunday night will be reserved for my ritual Sunday Spa Day. Other than that, let’s see what lies ahead. But for now, I will leave you with a few fun pictures from a home featuring happy colors in unexpected combinations to enjoy. Bright colors never looked so sophisticated. This is definitely a case of bright done right.! Happy weekend….xoxo.

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Mr. B and I took advantage of the long holiday weekend by hitting the road and driving a few hours from home to visit the charming towns of Montecito and Santa Barbara. We had a wonderful time but will be heading home today. I’m glad I was able to relax before my long day back at work tomorrow; I anticipate a very long, at least 15 hour day. I see at least two cups of cappuccino in my future tomorrow morning.
While many folks have today off from work, lets not lose sight of the holiday with a great quote from Martin Luther King, Jr….
