WELCOME WINTER 2017

Yesterday officially marked the first day of winter. It was also the first time we turned on our fireplace. Now that is definitely a telling sign that the California winter has arrived because we don’t have true seasons here and our Fall really just felt like an extension of Summer. But when the mercury dips below the low 70’s you’ll start seeing people wandering around with boots, parkas, and scarves (myself included). Winter in California is like no other place and now that it is here I sure hope it can stay a while. I want to get use out of the new coat I bought this year, get use out of the new cashmere sweaters I bought myself while I should have been shopping for others, enjoy the new wool scarves I brought back as souvenirs from Italy a few months ago, and take advantage of sitting in front of the warm fireplace while sipping a hot beverage. Welcome, winter…

Nothing beats cozy and stylish this winter season.

DREAMING OF A WHITE WINTER

Today marks the first official day of winter and I welcome the season with open arms. There have been dramatic changes in the weather here in Southern California and I am thrilled that I can finally pull out the winter coats from the closet and wrap a scarf around my neck.  It doesn’t snow here at the beach but that doesn’t mean I can’t dream of a white winter…

SNUGGLE UP WITH A PENDLETON BLANKET

A couple of days ago I tweeted:

If ur not sick, you will be! I’m out & about & everyone is sneezing and coughing. Geez people…STAY HOME! #RantOfTheDay

Obviously, I tweeted this before I came down with a cold. Is it karma or just coincidence?

Since I have been under the weather the last couple of days there has been nothing nicer than warm blanket to comfort me. And when it comes to a nice heavy weight blanket, you just can’t go wrong with a wool blanket from Pendleton. I own several Pendleton blankets and have had them so long that they are now considered vintage! In our household, the tell-tale sign that fall/winter have arrived is when the Pendleton blankets are pulled out for use. Although they get lots of use each year, they continue to look fabulous and show little wear. That’s definitely a sign of good quality.

As an American company that has been around for over 150 years, Pendleton is most noteworthy for their aztec and plaid designs. However, over the years, they have evolved to carry more modern designs to fit a variety of tastes.  Here are a few current Pendleton styles that I am particularly fond of.

Pendleton blankets can be seen more and more in home decor as opposed to just being used as a purely functional item. The images below are proof that Pendleton offers something for everyone, no matter what your decor style is.

However, there is one style that seems to get a lot of attention: The Glacier National Park Blanket, shown in the remainder of the photographs. It’s vibrant colors and simple pattern definitely make a bold statement.

love the idea of the colors of a pendleton camp blanket...we could layer this at the foot of bed...too casual? too literal? The blankets are dog friendly...important!: pendleton bedding:
